Prof. Martina Pons and Prof. Carmen Villa join our Faculty
Martina Pons, assistant professor of econometrics in the digital age, and Carmen Villa, assistant professor of economics of child and youth development endowed by the Jacobs Center for Productive Youthe Development, have joined the Department of Economics as of 1 September 2025.
Prof. Martina Pons studied in her Bachelor's and Master's at the University of Berne and obtained her PhD from the Department of Economics at the University of Berne in 2025.
In her work, Prof. Pons explores econometrics, with a particular focus on distributional methods and panel data econometrics. She also examines applied questions related to inequality and health economics.
Prof. Carmen Villa received her Bachelor's degree in international business & economics from the University Pompeu Fabra in Spain in 2015 and a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Warwick in 2025. Besides being an assistant professor at the UZH, she is also a research affiliate at the Institute for Fiscal Studies.
Her research focuses on the effects of public policies on youth development and crime.
