Nobel Laureates Duflo and Banerjee join our Faculty
The Nobel Prize-winning economists Esther Duflo and Abhijit Banerjee will join our Faculty in July 2026. Using external funds provided by the Lemann Foundation, the two researchers will establish a new center for development economics, education and public policy.
Esther Duflo and Abhijit Banerjee are two pioneers in the field of development economics and currently both employed at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). In 2019, the couple was awarded the Nobel Prize in Economics, along with economist Michael Kremer, for their experimental approach to alleviating global poverty.
