5 year reaccreditation by EQUIS – for the third time in a row

The Faculty of Business, Economics and Informatics has received the re-accreditation from EQUIS for further five years. This award confirms that the Faculty is among the best schools in Business and Economics on an international level.

EQUIS is the best-known accreditation institution in Europe. After the initial accreditation of the Faculty of Business, Economics and Informatics in 2009 and the re-accreditations in 2012, 2015, and 2020, the Faculty has successfully obtained re-accreditation again this year. During two and a half days, the four-member peer team held intensive discussions with various representatives from the Faculty and the private sector.

After a short decision period, the EQUIS Board has announced that the Faculty of Business, Economics and Informatics will be reaccredited for another five years. In particular, the following strengths of our Faculty are highlighted:

  • Research Excellence: Outstanding research performance driven by two new Nobel laureates, high-quality outputs, and strong success in external funding.
  • Commitment to Quality Education: Research-informed, practice-oriented programs that are highly attractive and continuously developed.
  • Quality and Mix of Academic Staff: Competitive global recruitment supported by a staffing model that sustains strong postdoctoral and doctoral communities.
  • Strong National Links to Communities of Practice: Extensive engagement with practice communities, alumni, and industry partners contributing to teaching and research.

With this re-accreditation, the Faculty is among 56 continental euro schools – including ten business schools in the DACHLI region – that hold both an EQUIS and AACSB accreditation at the same time.

Regarding the re-accreditation itself, Dean Harald Gall says: "I’m immensely proud that once again the Faculty of Business, Economics and Informatics has been awarded EQUIS accreditation for five years. This achievement confirms our position among the world’s leading business schools and validates our mission, strategy, and the efforts of all of our stakeholders. A highlight of this visit was an in-depth view of the MSc in Quantitative Finance, a program meeting the demands of the next generation of leaders.

EQUIS accreditation recognizes the highest international standards in governance, research, degree programs, executive education, and quality assurance. Beyond academic rigor, the process highlighted our international outlook, corporate relevance, and commitment to responsible leadership. Only around 220 schools worldwide currently meet EQUIS standards.

While we take pride in this milestone, feedback from accreditation visits helps drive our continuous improvement. We will build on this strong result to further enhance our research, degree programs, and executive education to meet future challenges."
