Prof. lngvild Almås and Prof. Thomas Graeber join our Faculty

Ingvild Almås, Larsson-Rosenquist Foundation Professor of Child and Youth Development, and Thomas Graeber, NOMIS Associate Professor for Cognitive and Neuroeconomics, have joined the Department of Economics as of 1 June 2025.

Prof. Ingvild Almås studied at the Economics Department of the University of Oslo and obtained her PhD from the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH) in 2008. Since 2018, Prof. Almås has been a full professor at Stockholm University and an adjunct professor at NHH. She is also a Principal Investigator at FAIR, Norwegian School of Economics and serves on the Committee of Monetary Policy and Financial Stability at the Norwegian Central Bank.

Prof. Almås' research focuses on gaining a better understanding of economic inequalities. She has worked on the measurement of income inequality, its drivers, and the perceptions about inequality that people hold. She has also been working extensively on the decision making in households, gender equality, and child and adolescents development.
 

Prof. Thomas Graeber received his Bachelor's degree from the University of Cambridge in 2013 and a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Bonn in 2018. Prior to joining UZH, he was as an assistant professor at Harvard Business School from 2020 to 2025.

His research focuses on the cognitive foundations of economic behavior and experimental economics.
