Promotion of Prof. Ralph Ossa

As of 1 July 2025, Prof. Ralph Ossa will assume the UBS Foundation Professorship of Economics at the Department of Economics, following his service (2023–2025) as Chief Economist of the World Trade Organization (WTO).
Prof. Ossa is a leading expert in international trade, economic geography and global value chains. His research combines quantitative rigor with real-world policy relevance and has been published in top-tier economics journals. He is also the recipient of a prestigious ERC Consolidator Grant.
At the WTO, Prof. Ossa provided high-level economic guidance on key global trade issues such as protectionism, climate policy and digital globalization. The Faculty is pleased to welcome him back in this expanded role.
