In her Bachelor's Thesis Anja Gschwend investigated the link between the appointment of women to Swiss corporate boards and gender diversity at the managerial level in subsequent years. For her work, she received a semester award of our Faculty.
«Intuitively you would think that more women on the board means more women in management. However, that turns out to not be entirely true», she explains. «Compared to a male appointee entering a similar board, a first women going into an all-male board did not lead to any visible changes in gender diversity in the years that followed her appointment. Only with a second woman do we really see a change, such as for example a greater share of female CEO’s in those firms.»
For a more detailed elaboration, watch the video below where Anja explains it herself.
We are very proud to have such inspiring students at our Faculty! Congratulations and we wish her all the best for her further studies!
