The new BIM building is offically opened!

On 10 September 2026, the new BIM building at Binzmühlestrasse 11 in Oerlikon was officially opened. The building is also the new home of the Department of Informatics.

Designed as a shared hub for the Oerlikon campus, BIM provides a new setting for research, teaching, work and exchange. Modern spaces for students, researchers and staff are complemented by a redesigned canteen and a welcoming courtyard, offering additional opportunities to meet and connect across the university community.

The official opening brought together representatives of UZH, its faculties, and the departments based in Oerlikon. Following the welcoming remarks, guests had the opportunity to explore the new building on guided tours before rounding off the celebration with an apéro and music.
