In 2022, the University of Zurich awarded ten Excellence Scholarships for the first time to particularly high-achieving Master's students.

The aim of this scholarship is to support students, regardless of their financial situation, who have achieved excellent results in their studies to date and have the potential to achieve excellence in the future and make a substantial contribution to solving socially relevant problems.

The scholarships were awarded by lot among all applicants who met the criteria. At our Faculty, Joel Beltrami and Thomas Meier (Banking and Finance) as well as Jan Fasnacht (Economics) were selected.

Scholarship recipient Joel Beltrami for example worked during his studies at a Swiss media company, where he assisted the management with a strategic project that was carried out in coordination with the four major Swiss media companies. «Within this framework, I was responsible for preparing industry, market and competitor analyses as well as deriving and evaluating various options for action and the associated risks.» He is convinced that this project will have an important influence on the future media landscape in Switzerland.

We congratulate all scholarship holders and wish them every success in their Master's studies.
