Portrait #2: Christian Ruff – what motivates us humans

Around 100 professors teach and do research at our Faculty. But who are they, what motivates them and what are the questions they want to find answers to? In a new series, we introduce various professors and their research. In the second portrait, it's Christian Ruff's turn.

«For me, the best thing about being a researcher is understanding things and exchanging ideas with others – and seeing if it inspires other people the way it inspires me», is how Christian Ruff describes his passion.

His research is all about the human brain and how we use it to make decisions. This also explains his fascination for this complex organ: «The brain controls our most basic behavioral tendencies. And if we understand these, we can best understand what human nature is.»
