You are warmly invited to the online inaugural lecture of Prof. Luis Aguiar:
Digitization and the Creative Industries
His inaugural lecture will give a broad overview, based on his own research, of the effects of digitization on the creative industries. He will discuss how technological change — despite leading to significant decreases in revenues and challenges for right-holders — has enabled an increase in the creation of new products, leading to substantial welfare benefits. With a particular emphasis on the music industry, he will also discuss how recent business models enabled by the digital transformation are shaping the structure of the industry and affecting revenue as well as consumption patterns.
Luis Aguiar is Assistant Professor in the Management of Digital Transformation at the Department of Business Administration at the University of Zurich. He holds a PhD in Economics from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, an MSc in Economics from Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona, and a Degree in Economics from the University of Geneva, Switzerland. Prior to his appointment at the University of Zurich he was a Research Fellow in the Digital Economy Unit at the European Commission’s Joint Research Center in Seville, Spain.
The inaugural lecture is public and will take place online via zoom on Monday, March 8, 2020, at 17:00. You can register under the following link: Registration
