29.06.2021Successful AACSB re-accreditation

As of 25 June 2021 the Faculty of Business, Economics and Informatics received the re-accreditation by AACSB for another five years. This is in addition to the successful re-accreditation by EQUIS in December last year. Both accreditations confirm that the Faculty belongs to the best schools in Business and Economics in Europe and the world.

AACSB is a global, nonprofit membership organization of educational institutions, businesses, and other entities devoted to the advancement of management education. After being accredited since 2010 and the first successful re-accreditation in 2016, the extension of our accreditation has been ratified by the Board of Directors of AACSB in its meeting of 25 June 2021 for another five years.

After the digital Site Visit from 2 - 5 May 2021 that covered intensive discussion with various representatives from our Faculty, Alumni, and University Executives, the Peer Review Team recommended our re-accreditation and highlighted these strengths of our Faculty:

• Our high quality of research with its outreach to societally relevant topics 
• Our high-quality academic training and our research-led teaching
• Our excellent links to the corporate world and our alumni
• Our role within the University as a forerunner and innovator.

With this re-accreditation, the Faculty is among 48 Continental European Universities – including only nine universities from the DACH region – that hold both an EQUIS and an AACSB accreditation at the same time.

Regarding the successful re-accreditation process, Dean Harald Gall says: «Our AACSB reaccreditation sheds light on the strengths of our Faculty and on the great potential for further growth. The recognition of our top research and high quality teaching is underlining our mission as a research-intensive and international Faculty. We are proud to belong to the group of universities which hold both accreditations, EQUIS and AACSB.» 

Uschi Backes-Gellner, Vice Dean for Research, Academic Career Development and Accreditation, adds: «The re-accreditation process and the principles of continuous improvement give us the chance to continuously reflect on our standing as a Faculty. An outside view supports and enriches our development processes and helps us to further improve in all aspects – research, teaching and governance.»
